Dervish-
While still in the asylum, Grubbs is moved into a different room so the police officers may once again try to get information toward the death of his family. The officers try helping him calm down and relax Grubbs so he can give them what they want. They try to get him to talk by sending Grubbs with other relatives, thinking that with Grubbs near family he will get a grip on "reality" the reality the officers see not the reality Grubbs fears. After sometime with the relatives Grubbs is sent back because he scared his little cousins with the description of the Demons. Once he returns to the asylum, the doctors think of trying to send him to another relative. During their search for new relatives a mysterious man visits grubbs in his asylum room. Dervish was his name and he advised Grubbs to lie to the doctors and give them fake information of a person so he may leave the asylum or stay inside that same dark room forever.
I wonder why they wanted to get him to talk. It seems pretty wierd that he would want to stay in the dark room forever.
ReplyDeleteIn the book he is traumatized at the sight of seeing his family being butchered by demons, he has no way of explaining this to people who wouldn't believe him. He would of rather stayed in the dark room because he felt safe there, and in society(with family) he felt like an outcast. Grubbs preferred being alone than being looked down on, untrusted.
